For years now, ever since Armstrong and Buzz went to the moon, there has been a lot of money put into space programs. Many scientists believe that in the future to come there will be a settlement on the moon, perhaps send someone to Mars, and even tourism in space. IS this what we need to do? Why not spend money on the planet we live on, right? Or wrong? Personally I want us to go to different planets, I want us to explore this vast universe to see if their is more than just the milky way and earth. To see if their is a alien race out there, however, some people think it is a waste of time, that there is nothing in this large universe that we live in. Why waste the money? Tell me what you think and why?

No. that will never happen until we resolve our current world issues.

By the time human kind has the resources to actually achieve space travel, it would be many millenia away, and I seriously doubt humankind will be around that long. Not to mention the amount of energy, food, and natural equilibrium required to travel such great distances. Could you imagine yourself in a spaceship for six months headed towards Mars?

Terraforming planets and moons takes thousands of years, as we would need the optimum atmosphere gases, sufficient water, oxygen producing algae and plants, and thoursands of other natural cycles needed until the planet is actually save to live in.

Training hard !!

yeah we should. For science !!
I don't see any problem in doing so. So we have our problems here, still doesn't mean we shouldn't go out into space, and see what we can find.

I remember they were starting to plan space travels to Mars. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened later in our lifetime. I would not be surprised at all. As far as other planets, we have already sent satellites, etc. People used to think going to the moon was impossible, but We went to the moon anyway, what stops us from going to other places?

Yes! We should space travel! We already learned a lot of our world by space travelling. That is not a waste of money, we don't know how useful it can be in the future. Yay for science and space travels!

Seriously. We do NOT have the resources not the ability to create space ships for space travel.

It takes an infinite amount of energy to reach the speed of light. Even then, it takes light hours to travel across the solar system. Imagine how long it would take to travel outside of our galaxy (most likely, it would take millions of years to reach the other galaxies, also the reason why aliens from other galaxies will never reach us).

If we did send people to space travel to someplace like Mars, then those people will eventualy die from lack of oxygen, food, water, or pressure imbalance. Also, every single piece of matter we send into space will not return back to Earth (except meteors, asteroids, comets, and nebulae dust).

Yep, but I guess we were all saying that it would be great if we could do it in future. And I believe we'll do it.

Mars is possible. The rest seems highly unlikely. Unless science finds a way. So far we havent' found any life anywhere really. Like beings and stuff. I believe in the next 200 years mars will be liveable. We will probably create a bubble like thing seen in all the movies.

I think aliens do exist but maybe instead of our race being behind, maybe we are the advanced life form. So they would have no idea that we exist at all.

It takes far more than 200 years for a planet to be terraformed perfectly. Earth took a few billion years to change in atmosphere, heat, and composition before life successfully formed to what it is now. Terraforming a planet like Mars is theoretical and has not been proven to bee possible, and will most likely take thousands of years to even a couple million if we even slightly mess up.

I'm just throwing numbers out there. Like in the past 50 years we gained so much technology and it keeps improving rapidly. Maybe in 200 years we can figure out how to do that for Mars. Yes to do it would take awhile but with technology anything can happen. If we can take pictures of solar systems that are probably billions of light years away, im sure at some point we can live on mars.

We just need to surround the planet with bubble wrap. LOL
